META test

    Hello,

    I had a META test done before my last transfer and on the recommendation of my doctor I should have a repeat test to check whether the treatment has worked.
    The meta test is supposed to be cycle-independent and so last week on my 6th cycle day I went to the German clinic that can carry out the biopsy. Unfortunately, the biopsy could not be carried out as I was only on the 6th day of my cycle and no mucous membrane had built up yet.

    After consulting with my Spanish clinic, this is completely atypical and not the norm, as the test can be carried out on any day of the cycle (except during bleeding). According to my research on Google, the biopsy should be done in the second half of the cycle.
    After various unsuccessful treatments, I was very disappointed that I had to spend two hours at the clinic for nothing and that the test could not be done.

    Can you tell me whether the test could have been done on the 6th day of the cycle or only when the mucous membrane has really built up?

    We are sorry that you have had this experience. At Vida Fertility we do not use "ES-META" and are not familiar with the procedure. We use EMMA-ALICE tests from the lab Igenomix, which are quite similar tests if you look at what they analyze. The EMMA-ALICE test requires a biopsy during the luteal phase of your cycle (after ovulation), so day 6 would have been too early.

    Nevertheless, we always send patients and clinics a detailed official statement from the laboratory analyzing the sample with instructions on how to proceed. This should be no different for your clinic and the laboratory responsible for "ES-META".

    I hope they can give you a clear answer and perhaps get in touch with your clinic in Germany and explain the procedure so that patients are not faced with such inconvenience.
