Hello everyone,
I’m new to the forum; I just spent some time really digging through everything before registering. Thanks for all your information and personal stories.
Our fertility journey has been a long one, too. I’m 42, have one child (*23, 6th ICSI), and we’ve been trying for a sibling for almost 1.5 years. Apparently, my eggs are now too poor in quality—the yield gets worse with every ICSI, and so far there hasn’t even been a single implantation.
We’ve now had our 5th ICSI for a sibling—one cycle with no fertilization and, most recently, just one fertilized egg, which is currently on hold due to a transfer postponed for health reasons.
Now I’m at the end of my patience and financial resources—at least given the ICSI prospects, which seem to be heading toward zero. So, for the past few months, I’ve been thinking about egg donation, and it’s definitely an option for me. It has to be an open donation; that much is certain. Next step: research. It’s overwhelming right from the start. How on earth am I supposed to choose a clinic? Gathering all the information is incredibly tedious. So thank you again for your posts, even though the sheer volume is a bit overwhelming at first.
Now to the questions: I’ve read here about “package prices” and “guarantees.” We’re willing to spend the money on further attempts, of course, but after several rounds of self-pay IVF, there’s eventually a limit to what we can afford. That’s why I’m considering such a package. It’s important to me that I have at least some information about the donor, that she’s healthy, and that hopefully there will be more than just 1–2 blastocysts as a result. At first, I was leaning toward Denmark, but I’ve now read about some negative experiences here. Which clinic should I look into more closely?
Finland has just come onto my radar. Are there packages like this there, too? That would make traveling more complicated, since I can’t just drive there.
In short: How did you all decide on all this? Is there a website somewhere where everything is clearly laid out side by side that I just haven’t discovered yet?! ![]()
Best regards
