"Donor child card"

Hello everyone,

I have a now four-year-old daughter from Open-ID EZS in DK and am currently wondering how our child can actually find the donor later on, even if the clinic no longer exists by then, for example. We have only received a donor number (from the clinic database?) and a personal letter from the donor. I have now read from other clinics that you get a kind of birth certificate in which the child's name and an official donor number from a national donor register are entered.

What was that like for you? Did you get an official document?

I will also ask the clinic (Aagaard Clinic in Aarhus) about this and then update you here if necessary.

Update: According to the clinic, there is no official donor register in DK, so contact must always be made via the fertility clinic. If the fertility clinic ceases to exist at some point, it must pass on the donor data to another fertility clinic (and hopefully inform its former patients about this...). There is no official document about which donor (with donor number) a child is descended from ("donor child card").

It's all a bit vague, I think, when you consider that several decades can pass before a child might be interested in its donor after all...
