New clinic despite long journey?

Hello everyone, I am brand new to the forum and hope to be able to share your experiences.

I am 39, my husband is 40 and we have now had two unsuccessful IVFs and two unsuccessful ICSIs. Due to my husband's chronic illness, there is only one clinic where we live near Münster that wants to treat us and unfortunately it is not particularly well rated, which is why we initially went to Essen. We were increasingly dissatisfied there, so we decided to move to Münster after all. Unfortunately, the admission and initial examinations were so chaotic and disorganized that we didn't feel comfortable at all. We could now try our luck in the next cycle in Bonn, where we have only had one consultation so far, but where we felt we were in incredibly good hands. But that would involve a long journey of 2-3 hours each way. Now I'm torn between the two: Münster, because it's almost around the corner, or Bonn, where we felt so comfortable?

Do you have any tips or experiences of your own? I am grateful for any feedback :) <3

Thank you for sharing your thoughts. I think it is always underestimated how important the gut feeling, the communication, the "trappings" are. A 2-3 hour drive is nothing. My husband and I opted for a clinic in Denmark. The journey takes 6-8 hours and we feel very comfortable there.
You can also have many examinations, e.g. ultrasound, at your personal gynaecologist. Good luck :)

Thanks for your quick reply Emma! I wish you every success!

I hadn't even thought of the idea of simply going to my gynaecologist for some of the tests. That would be a huge relief. I'll clarify :)

We have already thought about Denmark, but we have one last attempt where part of the costs will be covered. If it doesn't work out, I might have to ask again for information about Denmark :)

Yes, you can really do everything at your gynaecologist. Some clinics also have pre-prepared forms for the gynaecologist to fill in so that all the relevant information is passed on. If your gynaecologist cooperates well, this is really easy. You can also get prescriptions or other medication here.
Feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

I can also only recommend that you choose a clinic where you feel comfortable, where they listen to you, where they take their time and where you feel at ease.

You will always have moments when you need support and don't want to spend hours on hold and feel like you're just a number.

We are undergoing treatment in Prague, which is 10-12 hours for us. But everything is done by phone and I really only have to go there for the transfer. Prescriptions are sent by email and my gynaecologist does all the necessary examinations.

    Kind regards

    Fly

Thank you for your answer Fliege! That encourages me to really do it in Bonn. I was so hoping that writing here would help me and I'm just so happy to be so encouraged by you! Thank you very much <3

I wish you every success in Prague, Fly!

    Best regards!

    Dear Nani,

before the EZS we were also treated in Bonn (Bonner Boogen). The team is really nice and everything runs smoothly. Unfortunately, despite everything, it wasn't enough :/ Unfortunately, they can't do magic either. But I would give it a try for one last round if you feel so uncomfortable in Münster. You can ask again on which exact dates you have to be there.
    LG

Thanks for your message, Ninusch! That would also be our address in Bonn. Have you tried several times in Bonn? And have you been successful with EZS in the meantime? Kind regards

Ahh, I was also interested in the Bonner Bogen and would have liked to go there at the time. But the waiting times for the first appointment were too long, so we went to Cologne.

But the telephone contact with Bonn was very nice.

Yes, we also had to wait forever, almost 7 months. But we couldn't continue anyway because of my husband's illness. He has had hepatitis B since he was a child and his viral load was too high. However, this has now dropped to almost zero again, so the timing with Bonn was perfect. I've also found the contact great so far. The practice is also nice, very clean and quiet. In Essen and Münster, I always met thousands of other patients and felt like I was on a conveyor belt.

Yes, fortunately it has now worked with EZS ☺️ but it also took several attempts...

In Bonn we had 5 ivf cycles because I was a low responder, unfortunately always with new stimulation and puncture. There was never anything to freeze and we then always had cell transfers... Before that we had 3 treatments in Cologne and after a total of 8 IVF/Icsi without any implantation, we then tried plan B with EZS. ☺️

Wow, you've already covered quite a distance! How great that it worked out with the EZS! I always find it very encouraging to hear about such successes :) I'm really happy for you!

    Thank you! ☺️

Yes, it was really exhausting, especially as the ECS didn't work straight away either... I could have saved myself the last 2/3 IVF with my own eggs in hindsight. Above all, I could have used the nerves for the EZS, as unfortunately we weren't blessed with luck here either and it only worked out with the 2nd donor. But we are super happy that this option is available. 😊

We were also at the Bonner Bogen Fertility Center and were super satisfied, even though they couldn't "do magic" with us either. But we have now become parents thanks to EZS🥰
It's really important to feel that you're in good hands.

    Best regards, Peanuts.78

I've only heard good things about the Bonner Bogen so far. Because of the two-hour journey, I chose a clinic in Cologne and then switched to the other one. Now I'm thinking about whether I would make the eight-hour train journey each way...

Thanks again for your answers! Unfortunately, I was only able to have the first ultrasound with my gynecologist, but I still decided to go to Bonn and feel good about it. You are absolutely right that it is so important to feel comfortable with the doctors and the clinic. It's also worth the distance. And my two or three hours are really still within reason when I hear how far you drive...

I've now started, taken Progynova for the first time and injected Elonva today. I'll start with Pergoveris on Monday. Then from Wednesday I'll go to Bonn a few times...
