Egg donation - will I tell my child later?
-
-
I am also one of those who decided not to have my child educated.... and I must honestly say that I felt slightly offended.
It's a shame that we women in particular always tend to judge other women (see Mothers' Mafia) every family is different, you don't know my (also) ethnic background and you can't judge whether it would even be harder for the children if the environment knew. Either way, the family itself must be able to live with the decision and the consequences of it.... nobody makes such a big fuss about sperm donation...
And with that, I take my leave of the forum

Thank you Sunny for the statement.
I would perhaps do it differently myself, but I advocate diversity.
I hope that's not the reason for leaving the forum. -
Hello everyone,
Somehow I feel that there are only two extremes being discussed here: I tell everyone about the donation right from the start or I never tell anyone... But there are also countless other possibilities... and if I tell the child, that doesn't mean that I have to tell those around me... but if I tell a four-year-old child, I can assume that they will happily say "I have two mums/dads" in kindergarten, so it will be rather difficult to keep things secret around them

Best regards! Oskar

"In terms of wording, it is important that the egg donor is never referred to as the "genetic mother". The word "mother" is reserved solely for the person raising the child. This distinction is fundamentally important"

Dear @blackberry & everyone else,
Congratulations on your pregnancy - I wish you all the best!
I myself have also made it clear that I am educating myself - I also know a woman who does it differently...and I understand her too.
I also see it as encouragement for everyone that a lot is written here about how it can be done openly. And that it's good for the children.
We are going to have a coaching session soon, our daughter is now 17 months and is starting to speak her first words.
I'm looking forward to seeing how it works in practice. We already have a cute picture book that she likes to pull off the shelf.
