Hello,
I have registered here for the first time in the hope of an exchange.
In a few weeks I will be 41, in December 2021 our daughter was born ("natural" conception), unfortunately it turned out about a year ago that she will not live long due to a very rare gene defect passed on by both of us and is now a nursing case. That really knocked us for six, because we were so happy that everything had gone well with the birth, etc., without being planned.
It soon became clear that we wanted another child. My husband and I each have another genetic defect that we can pass on dominantly, but neither of them is life-threatening.
As PGD is very difficult in Germany and I was already 40 shortly after our daughter was diagnosed, we went to Gynem in Prague. We stimulated ourselves in winter, I had 3 blastocysts in 5AA and 5BB. Yesterday the genetics came back; unfortunately none of them are likely to be eligible as 2 are aneupolidia and one is mosaic. I'm still waiting to hear back from the clinic and have a discussion, but we think at the moment the Mosaic is too risky. We have no problem with disabilities, but it would be irresponsible towards our daughter who is in PG 5 and virtually bedridden.
I can't get in touch with my coordinator and I'm a bit unhappy about the way we communicate, but we don't want to give up and want to continue with egg donation. As my husband is the same age as me, the question is whether we should at least do PGT-A after egg donation to be sure? Or do we have to do another PGD loop due to my husband's genetic defects? Either way I am very frustrated right now and everything is delayed and you just get older and older....maybe someone has similar experiences and would like to share?
