Dear all,
Do any of you know anything about Kir genes and HLAC? Where can it be measured and would the partner also have to do this (in the case of egg donation?).
Best regards! Oskar

Hello Oskar!
I am currently dealing with the same topic ....
My German fertility clinic has a laboratory with human geneticists etc. in the background. ...
The polar body diagnostics have always been carried out there for us.
I don't know which region you live in, but they have many locations.
I asked the same question there in a preliminary consultation ... regarding KIR genes and egg donation. This question was then discussed with the management and the feedback was that it definitely makes sense! Both my husband and I are to be examined...
Have a look at the locations - if you live in this region, I can tell you what the procedure is like for them.
If that doesn't suit you, I'm sure you'll find a comparable laboratory that also offers this.

Bochum | Limburg |

These are the locations ...
1000 thanks, I did the serology with them 😉
If you are registered with DKMS or would like to register, you can find out your KIR gene results there free of charge and at the same time do something good or even save lives.
We are fighting to have a child, others are fighting to keep a child...
Written at the same time 😁
Oh - you see 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
About the procedure ... you call ... a bit on hold ... then they can look at all the calendars ... for us Cologne and Düsseldorf came into question ...
Then they tell you which location is faster.
You then get a quick telephone appointment and have to upload a questionnaire in advance.
You then go through this again and next you get (also quite quickly) an appointment on site (with a partner) with a human geneticist.
The laboratory work probably doesn't take that long with this topic.
If the genetics are conspicuous, the immunosuppression will also be discussed - they already said that not every gynaecologist and not every clinic deals with this topic!
I have often read about the DKMS!
I am also registered there - but what I have always wondered ... I have never !!! blood, but only sent in the saliva sticks ?!
Is that enough for KIR and HLA??????
Apparently. In any case, I got an overview of my results.
OK👍🏼
Thank you.
Whether saliva or blood shouldn't really matter for genes, you only need genetic material, whether from oral mucosa or blood cells doesn't matter, does it?
Best regards! Oskar
Unfortunately I was not able to send the link, but in the following article from DKMS everything is answered!
Just read it !
Hm, can there actually be a problem with Kir and HLAC if you already have a child together?
Your Oskar
I don't think that's so easy to answer.
Is the child you have together also your biological child?
I once read that in the case of egg donation, a donor is searched for these genetic characteristics if it has repeatedly not worked out ...
I can't remember which clinic it was - but I think this procedure is rather rare !!!
Dear Purehaeven,
I now also have an appointment for the preliminary consultation, but why do I need it? Because you are not allowed to examine the genes without prior information? But then why does the DKMS not require a preliminary consultation?
Kind regards! Oskar
Yes, it's our child together!
Hello Oskar,
yes-the law stipulates that a counseling session must take place before every genetic test...
I don't know why this doesn't happen in the context of DKMS typing... maybe there are exceptions ?!
Are you probably diagnosed down to the Kir genes?
Have you had a donor so far?
