Thank you for the kind words! I am 36+1 today and have had an upsetting last week.

You wrote that you wanted to prevent induction or even have your doctors transfer it. The doctor at the maternity clinic where we were last week first suggested a planned caesarean section and then, after she saw that our little worm was also within the norm, but rather in the lower third (i.e. also rather delicate), she then suggested a planned induction.

The reasons were probably my age (48), the fact that it was an artificial insemination and also my gestational diabetes (which is well controlled and above all completely without insulin injections - only regulated with nutrition). I was completely perplexed. I have never had high blood pressure, no abnormalities in the amniotic fluid or placenta, no bleeding etc. I don't even know where it all came from. I then spoke to another clinic on the phone, who also said that they would induce from 39+0.

Lalelu22 You're actually a bit older than me - was that an issue for you?

I will now ask for another consultation at the planned maternity clinic and have another appointment at the end of the week at the other clinic, which was at least a bit more relaxed because of the diabetes.

Dear Jam76, I was even younger than you, had my 40th birthday one day after ET and during the registration interview at the hospital for the birth I was struck by the same blow when the doctor said that you would be induced on ET because of your age and the egg donation. I was completely taken by surprise, in the end they let me keep my birthday, but then induced the day after. I had no problems at all during the pregnancy, no diabetes and no high blood pressure. In the last two weeks of the pregnancy, my blood pressure rose slightly, but was still just within the normal range of 140/90. However, it rose again a week before, so that I had to spend a night in hospital, where everything stabilized again without medication. After the birth at home, my blood pressure rose massively and I had to go back to hospital. That was really bad for me emotionally. The induction was also really bad for me, but if I had another pregnancy I would have the greatest respect for a transfer because the body can break down really quickly. And I would want to avoid an emergency Caesarean section if possible. If I get pregnant again, I will definitely have to deal with this issue again. I just wanted to say that an acute deterioration can occur even without any previous signs during pregnancy, but of course it doesn't have to. The induction is therefore purely a precautionary measure and they are not allowed to force it on you. But they do advise it very urgently

I'd like to get back to you on the subject of inducing. I have not yet found any literature (in German) or any studies on the subject of induction (but I haven't really done any research because I don't really have the correct English vocabulary). As soon as you type in "egg donation birth" all you get is advertising and information from reproduction clinics. But I am interested in scientific facts. As you have already written, age, artificial insemination and egg donation all play a role. I had an induction with my first birth. It was ok. But it wasn't a planned one, I just had contractions for too long without my cervix opening. After two days I was also quite weak, then I had an epidural and was able to sleep, recover and then the contraceptive drip came and everything went well. In other words, an induction doesn't have to be bad per se. I also recently listened to a podcast with Dr. Lütje on the subject of induction. In my opinion, he described quite well what happens there. Of course, not for our special cases such as egg donation and artificial insemination. And as I understand it, it's important to find the children who press the "I have to get out of here" button but the mother's body doesn't react. But I also know the case of a natural birth. And it's nice if you can avoid the whole induction procedure. By that I mean knowing exactly when to go to the hospital, starting to give contraceptives gently, waiting, then maybe nothing happens for a few days, things like that. Although with my second birth, which started without any interventions, I was also surprised that it started so early. Of course I can understand the doctors preferring to play it safe. They can be accused of a lot of things legally if something goes wrong. And of course I don't want to take any risks myself. Maybe our little ones will just come before the ET and we won't have to worry about it at all...

Jam76 can you please tell us how your consultation at the other maternity clinic went?

I also have an appointment with the senior doctor at my maternity clinic next week. I got it just like that. I think they want to take a closer look at the baby and me to get a good assessment. That's fine with me. Maybe I'll get some informative answers from her.

Lalelu22 I know all too well about the nerves lying flat. But it got a bit better for me during my pregnancy. I hope that you somehow find a pool of calm within yourself. I always try (when things have calmed down) to consciously see the positive sides of my children. That helps me to soften up again, because I'm already pretty much in love with them. And I try to see their side. Why they do what they do. Of course that doesn't help at first when you get angry, but it helps to work through the situation and then to explain in simple terms why I got angry. Of course, a two-year-old child can't describe and explain their position, but I think that your giving in and closeness will then also come back to the child.

I'm sooo happy in between. My baby will be with us soon!!!

The consultation at the second clinic was quite good, they did not consider my diabetes values to be critical, but would still initiate 39+0 due to my age. All other tests were normal. My liver values are probably elevated, so I have to go back to the original hospital tomorrow for a follow-up check. But I don't have high blood pressure or anything like that. Let's see.

39+0 is 22.12. and we actually wanted to avoid it coming on Christmas Eve. That's why we agreed with the first clinic on the 25th of December, so that it will hopefully be there on the 26th or 27th. As a rule, it probably takes a maximum of 2 days after induction, whereby they would initially only induce manually with balloons or sticks. Is that the same as your experience?

In any case, I had quite a few contractions and/or training contractions yesterday

I see, Jam76 and Coco_F, introduction is an issue for all of us. I really want to avoid it too, but at the moment it looks like it could happen to me again... I'm at 39+4 today and hardly anything is happening... I have my next appointment on the ET and then we will discuss what to do next. I don't want to go more than a week past the ET and I'm probably not recommended to. Last week I went to the clinic in the middle of the night for a check-up because I couldn't feel the little one for hours and couldn't get him to move. The assistant doctor then said that she could only recommend an induction, although everything was fine at the check-up. However, the senior doctor said that I should be checked again in 12 hours. I saw myself with a baby this weekend after all. However, as the check-up on Friday afternoon was good and baby was fortunately moving as usual again, the doctors didn't think an induction was necessary yet. It's a bit of a back and forth.

Jam76 I was induced with a balloon with my big one, later I was given oxytocin due to weak contractions and an artificial opening of the amniotic sac. It took just over 2.5 days from the first measure to the birth.

Jam76, Coco_F and Lalelu22: I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you and me for the last part of the pregnancy and the birth. I'm so looking forward to when it's done and we can finally hold the little ones in our arms.

yes, fingers crossed that it will be quiet for the last few meters!

I'm still feeling restless. Now my liver values are probably elevated and an extended test is being done to see if there are signs of pregnancy poisoning. On Sunday they were slightly higher than on Friday and tomorrow I'm back in the clinic. All other values and examinations such as amniotic fluid, Doppler and placenta were fine. The baby continues to move every day. There could be umpteen reasons for the values. Even those that have nothing to do with the pregnancy.

Let's see how long I can stand it. Before risking anything, I'll take the earlier induction or caesarean section - that's the way it is. The main thing is that our worm is soon healthy and happy in our arms!

Jam76 A week ago, the senior doctor suddenly spoke to me about induction from 39+0 and measured a rather delicate baby. But she's always been like that and yet she's still within limits and she's also active... I hope your liver values have improved again. On the one hand, it's nice when they take good care of you, but on the other hand, if you look closely you always find something and if you can't say for sure whether it has anything to do with the pregnancy, it's particularly stupid. In any case, I hope you are doing well. Do you already know whether you will induce before or after Christmas?

Lalelu22 would you please give me some of your chunk? But it's really nice that you came out of the ultrasound so reassured. That's worth sooo much when you're happy about what you've seen and experienced. And especially if it helps you to get some distance from your brother, it's twice as good.

I am now in my 40th week and today I had a balloon put in and a tablet to take. I now have a constant backache, but of course I don't know what it's caused by. Just like period pains. And it's also like going through menses. According to the CTG at least I don't have any contractions but I constantly feel as if I have to go to the toilet. I suspect that the balloon is also pressing on my bowels and causing this feeling. The cervix is 1 cm open, but I think it is open for me anyway as I have already had children and then the cervix doesn't close completely. I'm curious to see how long it will take.

We have made it! Our sunshine is here! We are both cuddling and of course she is beautiful. Despite the induction, the birth went well and quickly. And she was heavier than the doctor estimated and her belly circumference is also completely normal. Nevertheless, I am very, very grateful that she is here now.

I had similar thoughts and fears as you before: Could the child be a stranger to me, etc.? It is simply unimaginable until it arrives.

For me, she was immediately familiar & simply "ours". The feeling that "she fits & belongs to us".

But if the relationship grows slowly, I think that's completely okay.

Our daughter is now 8 months old. She doesn't look like me (she can't) or my partner. She's just her own little person. And absolutely adorable.

Sometimes people still see similarities - it doesn't really matter to us any more. She keeps us on our toes

First of all, congratulations to Coco_F on your little miracle and a wonderful start to a new life!

We too have finally had our little sunshine. On 11.12. shortly after midnight by caesarean section. Sorry for my lack of feedback so far, but it was very turbulent. On Tuesday my liver values were higher than on Sunday and one kidney value was also elevated. I was then told that the pregnancy would have to be terminated by caesarean section on the same day with suspected HELLP syndrome. I didn't have any other symptoms and didn't understand that it was about my health, to be honest. We then had to wait another 12 hours until it was finally time, but then she was there

Then it continued seamlessly: both my health and hers were not so good and after 10 days on the Neo with many sleepless nights, we were finally allowed to go home. We still have to monitor her closely with instruments, but we are at home! Everything is a bit overshadowed by the events, but she is gaining weight and will certainly be fit in 2-3 weeks

In the end, everything was really different than expected and... She looks just like her dad and I am so relieved!
